Fans Invited to Twilight Memorial Honoring Tina Turner at Tina Turner Museum

Fans and friends of Tina Turner will have a chance to pay their respects to the "Queen of Rock." A Twilight Memorial to honor her legacy is set up for Sunday, May 28, at 7 p.m., on the lawn of the Tina Turner Museum in Brownsville, Tennessee.

"Tina has touched so many of our lives with her music and her story of perseverance," says Center Director Sonia Outlaw-Clark. "This memorial will afford us the opportunity to have her family of fans share their sentiments and extend comfort to each other."

If you attend the event, organizers are encouraging fans to sign a memory board and share words in memory of the singer. At the memorial speakers will share memories of Tina and candles will be lit in her memory. According to the release, The West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center, in Brownsville, is a music heritage destination that offers a refreshing Southern experience showcasing the history and culture of rural West Tennessee.

Music lost its leading lady of Rock & Roll on Wednesday (May 24) when Tina Turner passed away at her home in Switzerland following a long illness. She was 83.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner," a Facebook post read. "With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."

Famous friends of the singer spoke out following the news of Turner's death offering condolences and sharing memories of the singer.

"I'm so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner," wrote Mick Jagger on social media. "She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny, and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her."

"Truest rocker. Greatest performer," added Flea. "Most profoundly sexy woman. What a dynamo, what a story, what a heroine. Always an energy inspiration for me, always tapping the source. Tina forever. Man. Always been in awe of her and the infinite power."

The memorial will take place at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center & Tina Turner Museum, 121 Sunny Hill Cove, Brownsville TN.
