National Weather Service rates deadly tornado in Boone & Marion Counties from Sunday morning

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KY3) - Survey teams with the National Weather Service rated a deadly storm on Sunday morning in Boone and Marion Counties as an EF3 tornado.

The storm began near Bellefonte in Boone County around 3:27 a.m. Some 37 minutes later, it lifted 21 miles later near Summit in Marion County. The storm packed wind speeds of 145 miles per hour and stretched nearly a mile wide.

The storm killed four people and injured another. It damaged several homes in its path.

Survey teams from the National Weather Service office in Little Rock plan to survey more damage in northern Arkansas.
