Elden Ring is finally getting ray tracing in its newest patch, according to Bandai Namco Entertainment.

While considered one of the hallmarks of next gen gaming, Elden Ring had previously traded out ray tracing for more processing power- with near seamless loading across the game's huge maps.

This feature naturally bumps up the minimum specs for Elden Ring, requiring an RTX-enabled GPU to activate the feature.

Here's the new recommended specs as of this update:

That's not all that's coming in the 1.09 update for Elden Ring, however- various balance changes are also being applied, such as a buff to grab abilities like Inescapable Frenzy in PvP.

It also speeds up the startup of several moves, like I Command Thee, Kneel while adding roll canceling to the Spinning Wheel weapon art.

This update comes about a year later after the launch of Elden Ring, and follows a series of semi regular balance patches for the game.

In the past year we've seen builds that focus on Bleed or Scarlet Rot made less relevant, while slower weapons have also gotten improvements.
