Colon cancer is now the second deadliest form of cancer and should not be taken lightly.

The main thing that hospitals want to stress is the importance of screenings and colonoscopies, especially now that the recommended age has been moved to 45.

Some of the common signs to look out for are changes in bowel movement, bleeding from the rectum, or overall tiredness.

Memorial Health treats all stages of colon cancer as well as discusses the issues with other professionals. Dr. Sidra Khalid said, "The oncology team is communicating with all the faculty and all the physicians over here at Memorial and then they're sharing special cases or rare cases with other oncologist centers as well."

A healthy diet and physical activity can also lower the risk of colon cancer.
