The Bachelorette's Clint Arlis dies at 34 ... appeared on season 11

The Bachelorette's Clint Arlis has died at the age of 34, with police in his Illinois hometown confirming on Friday that his death is currently 'under investigation', although 'no foul play is suspected'. 

New of Arlis' tragic passing was shared on Facebook by his younger sister, Taylor, who revealed that her older brother - who shot to fame while vying for the heart of Kaitlyn Bristowe on season 11 of the ABC franchise in 2015 - died 'on the morning of January 11'. 

Sharing a childhood photo of herself and Arlis with their brother Logan, a heartbroken Taylor wrote: 'It is with great sadness, to tell you that my family has lost my best friend and older brother Clint on the morning of January 11th.'

Taylor did not reveal her brother's cause of death, however she asked that his fans 'respect our family's privacy as we try to cope with this great loss,' adding that Arlis' relatives will share 'details on the service' soon.  

On Friday, the police department in Arlis' hometown of Batavia said that its officers had responded to a call about a 'deceased subject' at a private residence shortly after 12PM on January 11, and confirmed that it is now investigating the former Bachelorette star's death. 

In a statement given to DailyMail.com, a spokesperson for the Batavia Police Department said: 'It was confirmed that Clinton K. Arlis, 34, of Batavia was deceased.

Tayor shared the news of her brother's death on Facebook, where she described Arlis' passing as a 'great loss' for her family 

'The matter is currently under investigation by the Batavia Police Department and the Kane County Coroner's Office, however no foul play is suspected.' 

After the news of Arlis' death was made public, his former Bachelorette co-star Bristowe, 36, addressed his passing on Instagram, where she posted several videos of herself speaking into the camera, offering her condolences to his grieving family.  

'Alright this is an Instagram Story I did not think I'd be doing tonight but Clint, who was on my season of the Bachelorette, I'm going to say tragically, he's tragically passed [at the age of] 34 years old,' she said. 

Bristowe went on to say that she is 'not sure what happened' or 'how it happened', before looking back on the complicated relationship that their pair shared during their time on the reality show. 

'All I want to say is that from knowing him on the show, even though things didn't end on the best terms for us, from his time on the show until today I've heard nothing but incredible things about [Clint],' she continued. 

'From his peers, his students, his coaches, his teachers, his friends his family, Clint was very well respected in his world and it is an absolute tragedy of what's happened.' 

Arlis was eliminated from the show in the third episode, but not before sparking controversy among viewers. 

Throughout the opening episodes of the series, Arlis and his fellow contestant JJ Lane were seen forming a close friendship, with the pair portrayed in villainous roles for much of their time on the show.  

Arlis rose to prominence after appearing on season 11 of The Bachelorette, during which he vied for the heart of Kaitlyn Bristowe, before being eliminated in the third episode  

Prior to his passing, Arlis was working as an architectural engineer in the Chicago area  

Bristowe, 36, spoke out about Arlis' passing in a series of Instagram Stories videos on Thursday night, when she offered her condolences to his family 

However, while Arlis and Bristowe's on-air relationship did not end on the 'best terms', the former Bachelorette was quick to offer her sympathy to 'anyone' who knew and loved him. 

'I just don't know much right now and it's none of my business,' she said. 

'This Instagram Story is literally to just say to anyone who knows him, who might follow me, that I am so sorry.  

'It's such a huge loss and I'm honestly just beside myself with this news. If there's anything I can do, anything at all, please let me know and let's all just say a prayer or be there for Clint's family during this time. Gosh, I'm just so sorry.' 

Former Bachlelor star Nick Viall, who appeared with Arlis on season 11 of The Bachelorette, also paid tribute to his late co-star on Twitter, writing: 'Just heard about the passing of Clint Arlis.  

'I got a chance to get know Clint a little after our time on Kaitlyn's season and I always enjoy [our] time and conversations. A very kind, unique, and talented person who was taken from this world far too soon. RIP Clint.'

News of Arlis' passing was also shared by wrestling coach Scott Bayer, who works at the Bachelorette star's alma mater Batavia High School in Batavia, Illinois, and is a close friend of the family. 

In a series of tweets, Bayer described Arlis as a 'beloved son' and 'loving older brother', before going on to honor him as an inspiration to the teenage wrestlers that followed in his footsteps.

Arlis was eliminated from The Bachelorette in the third week of the show 

'It is with a heavy heart and a sense of profound loss that we announce the death of one of the Batavia Wrestling Program's All-Time greats, 2005 graduate, Clint Arlis,' Bayer wrote. 

'Clint was the beloved son of Coach Tom Arlis and his wife, Jamie, protective, loving older brother of his sister, Taylor, and the boyhood idol and best friend of his kid brother, Coach Logan Arlis.

'I have come to know Clint over the years since I joined Tom's coaching staff and the Batavia Wrestling Family in the late fall of 2005, after his graduation. I have found him to be extraordinarily devoted to his family and deeply committed to the sport wrestling at a level few of us have ever reach in our careers.'

Bayer then called attention to Arlis' impressive record as a wrestler a the University of Illinois, where he 'spent the majority of his years as the workout partner to 2x Big-Ten Champion, 3x All-American and current U of I Head Wrestling Coach, Michael Poeta.' 

He concluded his Twitter thread: 'His legacies as a fierce competitor, tireless worker, a caring influence to younger Batavia wrestlers, a devoted friend and a loving son and brother will resonate far beyond his days in our presence. 

'On behalf of all of us in the Batavia Wrestling Family, we send our deepest and most sincere condolences to the Arlis Family during this period unimaginable heartbreak and grief.' 

The University of Illinois paid tribute to the late student-athlete 

According to Arlis' LinkedIn page, he spent five years working as a project manager for Lendlease, a 'leading property developer' that is headquartered in Sydney, Australia, however his employment there is listed as having ended in 2019. 

Following his time at Batavia High School, Arlis attended the University of Illinois, where he received both his master's and undergraduate degrees, as well as competing as an amateur wrester.

During his appearance on The Bachelorette, Arlis sparked controversy with his close friendship with fellow contestant JJ, with both producers and viewers fueling rumors that there was a budding romance between the two men. 

Following a particularly suggestive promo for the show, in which he was seen confessing his love for JJ during a one-on-one interview, Arlis tweeted: 'Whoops. Sorry, dad?' adding the hashtag #brokebackbachelor. 

His tweet prompted outrage among the LGBTQ community, with many accusing him of trying make fun of homosexuality. 

Arlis, who was eliminated from the show in the third episode, later apologized for his behavior, explaining that he and JJ's on-air relationship was only ever meant to be 'tongue [in] cheek'.  

Bristowe eventually selected Shawn Booth, but the couple split up in 2018. She announced her engagement to Jason Tartick last May. 

In the years since his appearance on The Bachelorette, Arlis shied away from the public eye, reportedly deleting all of his social media accounts.
