Police ask for public's help in East Anchorage shooting that sent girl to hospital with life-threatening injuries

A girl was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting Friday evening in East Anchorage, police said.

Around 7:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to reports of shots fired on North Bliss street in the Mountain View neighborhood. When they arrived, they discovered a victim police identified only as a "juvenile female," who they said had been shot in her upper body. Other details weren't immediately provided, including the age of the girl.

The girl was transported to the hospital with injuries that police described as life-threatening, according to an online report about the incident.

The street surrounding the shooting was briefly closed while a crime scene team investigated, but is now open.

Officers said they believed that the incident was isolated, and that no arrests have yet been made.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and ask anyone with information is asked to call 3-1-1, or to leave an anonymous tip through the website www.AnchorageCrimeStoppers.com.
