The suspect in the Waukesha Christmas Parade attack, Darrell Brooks, is facing five counts of first-degree intentional homicide with more charges expected to follow.WISN 12's Nick Bohr spoke with someone who at one time knew him well — the mother of one of his children. Long before Brooks became an international villain, he was a boyfriend to a Milwaukee woman, and they had a child. Now, she wants to see him punished for the carnage in Waukesha."He didn't seem like he was in his right mind," she told WISN 12 by phone. She doesn't want to be identified. "He did a monstrous thing," she said. "Throw him in jail, under the jail, hang him, if they had the death penalty here, I would be for that."The woman said she's raised their child with barely any support from Brooks but said, "He was never was violent with me. But, maybe because he didn't have the opportunity because he was in and out of jail."Another of Brooks' ex-girlfriends wasn't so lucky. According to a criminal complaint, following an argument three weeks ago, she was walking in a gas station parking lot when Brooks saw her and ran her over.He was driving the same SUV when prosecutors said he killed six people and injured more than 60 in Waukesha. His ex from long ago is sickened by it, saying she hasn't slept since learning of his involvement in the tragedy, saying, "Knowing that he is the father of my child. That is where the sickness comes in. How gross. How disgusting."Brooks has an extensive criminal record dating 1999 and was free on bail at the time of the parade tragedy.He remains in jail.The district attorney told WISN 12 additional charges for the death of Jackson Sparks could come as early as Friday.
