'It hasn't worked' were the words of David Moyes as he finally holds his hands up with a big West Ham rebuild admission and drops a hint over his future.

David Moyes has repeated ad nauseam this season that his raft of new West Ham signings needed time and patience to settle in and gel.

The suggestion from Moyes for some time has been that West Ham are slowly getting there. That the £170m worth of summer additions such as Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca will come good and start to show their star quality.

But the reality is West Ham find themselves in the relegation zone with two months of the season left.

And rumours are swirling over his Hammers future and an alleged toxic atmosphere within the first team.

Claims earlier this week that Moyes could be sacked if West Ham lose to Southampton this weekend have been denied by a senior source inside West Ham.

But reports have emerged since stating West Ham have now decided to part ways with their manager in the summer 'regardless' of what happens between now and then.

It has been clear for some time that the Scot's attempt - alongside head of recruitment Rob Newman - to transform his West Ham team has failed miserably thus far.

Six wins in 26 games so far this season is all the evidence you need to prove that fact.

Moyes had never admitted as much, though, until now.

'It hasn't worked' says Moyes as he finally holds his hands up with a big West Ham rebuild admission and drops a hint over his future.

Speaking in a lengthy interview with Sky Sports ahead of this weekend's huge relegation six-pointer against the Saints, Moyes says the big money rebuild has not worked.

But he dropped a hint over his future by insisting he can still make it work next season, as long as West Ham can get themselves clear of danger.

"We brought in a lot of new players and I decided that we needed to make a few changes to continue trying to grow the club and move the team on," Moyes told Sky Sports.

"I have to be honest and say that it's not worked as well as I would've liked… We've introduced a lot of new players, and in the Premier League it takes time.

"I don't think we could have done anything different, but we just need to try and see if we can get ourselves through this one and hopefully look forward to picking up next season."

They say time waits for no man.

It remains to be seen whether that is true for Moyes at West Ham come the summer.
