Chris Martin has revealed that he only eats one meal a day after he noticed that Bruce Springsteen 'was in better shape than him.'

The Coldplay frontman, 46, made the admission during an appearance on Conan O'Brien's Needs A Friend podcast, and he explained that he decided to cut back on his eating after he became jealous of the 73-year-old singer's amazing physique.

When asked if he had dinner with any big stars recently, he told the host that he 'doesn't have dinner anymore' because he stops consuming anything at 4pm - a tip he got from fellow musician Bruce.

'I actually don't have dinner anymore. I stop eating at four and I learned that from having lunch with Bruce Springsteen,' he said.

The Head Full of Dreams star added that he was amazed by Bruce's body and decided to ask him how he stays in such great shape during a lunch they shared after they performed together at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, last June.

'I was on a really strict diet anyway. But I was like, "Bruce looks even more in shape than me,"' he continued.

'And Patti [Bruce's wife] said he's only eating one meal a day. I was like, "Well, there we go. That's my next challenge."'

Chris joked that his only meal of the day is usually 'flank of buffalo with a steroid sauce.

Back in 2021, the artist admitted that he had only cooked twice in the previous 10 years - and revealed he had set the kitchen on fire both times.

He told BBC Radio 2: 'I'm not a great cook. I've cooked twice in the last 10 years and both times the Fire Brigade came.

'I'd like to send a shout out to them - the North London Fire Department - who've saved me twice. The second time they came and said, "Have you been cooking again?"'

When asked what he burnt, he continued: 'Um, pasta and toast. I said I'd cook dinner, but then I got distracted and went to work on a song and then forgot until...'

Chris previously spoke out about being on a 6:1 diet in 2016, which involves eating six days a week and fasting on the seventh day by consuming only water.

'I actually don't have dinner anymore. I stop eating at four and I learned that from having lunch with Bruce Springsteen,' he said

The star added that he was amazed by Bruce's body and decided to ask him how he stays in shape last June. They are seen together with Carrie Underwood and Kanye West in 2014

'I was on a really strict died anyway. But I was like, "Bruce looks even more in shape than me,"' he continued. 'And Patti [Bruce's wife] said he's only eating one meal a day'

He told Fresh 102.7: 'I fast once a week, yeah, one day a week. This guy said to me, "Try not eating for a day, it will make your body feel healthier," and I did it and I found I could sing a bit better, and also I felt so grateful for food.'

Chris celebrated his 46th birthday earlier this month, with his ex wife Gwyneth Paltrow, 50, calling him the 'sweetest father and friend' in a tribute she shared for him at the time.

The GOOP founder posted a sweet selfie with him, donning very little makeup and a pair of glasses as she leaned her head on Chris in what appeared to be a parking lot.

'Happy birthday to the sweetest father and friend we love you, cajm,' Gwyneth, whom 'consciously uncoupled' from Chris in March 2014, captioned it.

The stars, who married in 2003 but officially divorced in 2016, have two children together: 18-year-old Apple and 16-year-old Moses.

The former couple shocked fans when they announced they were splitting up in a post on the GOOP website titled 'Conscious Uncoupling.'

'It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,' the pair wrote.

But since that split they seem to have become close friends, even vacationing together with her new husband Brad Falchuk and Chris' steady love, Dakota Johnson, who is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.

Chris' ex has some strange eating habits of her own. She came under fire earlier this month after sharing her 'wellness routine' which consisted of fasting, IVs, and an hour of exercise

The Duets actress told the Evening Standard: 'We were separated for a year before we announced we were separated.

'We kept it very quiet, and in that time I asked adult friends with divorced parents what they remembered.

'There was this resounding theme: "It was really hard because for the first two years my parents didn't speak. It was awful for a while," or "My parents hated each other."

'And I thought, "I would really love to skip that part." Those kids felt they were constantly betraying one parent by being with the other.'

'I usually eat something about 12 and in the morning I have things that won't spike my blood sugar so I have coffee,' she said. 'But I really like soup for lunch. I have bone broth for lunch a lot of the days. Try to do one hour of movement'

Chris' ex has some strange eating habits of her own. Earlier this month, she came under fire after sharing her 'daily wellness routine' which consisted of fasting, bone broth, vegetables, IVs, and an hour of exercise.

She told Dr. Will Cole on his The Art of Being Well podcast, 'I eat dinner early in the evening. I do a nice intermittent fast.

'I usually eat something about 12 and in the morning I have things that won't spike my blood sugar so I have coffee.

'But I really like soup for lunch. I have bone broth for lunch a lot of the days. Try to do one hour of movement, so I'll either take a walk or I'll do Pilates or I'll do my Tracy Anderson.

'And then I dry brush and I get in the sauna. So I do my infrared sauna for 30 minutes and then for dinner I try to eat according to paleo - so lots of vegetables. It's really important for me to support my detox.'

A clip of the interview was shared to TikTok and it was viewed more than 1.8 million times - and was met with fierce backlash from online users.

One person wrote, 'Is starving wellness?' while another added, 'I feel light headed just listening to this.'

And a third simply said: 'I relate to nothing in this video.'
