Eddie Murphy's The Pick Up film halts production after crew members hurt

Production on Eddie Murphy and Keke Palmer's latest film has been paused after several crew members were hospitalised following a "freak accident" on set.

Amazon confirmed that the incident occurred while shooting an "action sequence" for upcoming flick, The Pick Up.

It is reported that it happened last Saturday around the time Murphy and Palmer were spotted shooting scenes in Atlanta.

The statement from the studio read: "Unfortunately, the sequence did not go as planned and several members of the crew were injured as a result. We are still in the process of gathering facts on what happened and why, but first and foremost our thoughts are with those who are recovering.

"The wellbeing of the entire crew and cast is our first priority, and we will continue to insist on the highest industry standards of safety while filming. All safety precautions were reviewed prior to and monitored during the shoot."

Production on the Tim Story-directed film, which also features Pete Davidson and Eva Longoria in the cast, has now come to a halt while bosses continue "gathering facts", a spokesperson said.

According to AP, the incident involved a car crash, with the accident taking place when a truck "locked up" and smashed into a vehicle.

"It was a completely freak accident," an anonymous source told the US news agency.

Insisting that the stunt wasn't particularly dangerous, they claimed that two crew members were taken to the hospital, with one still being monitored by doctors on Tuesday.

They concluded that injuries "ranged from bumps and bruises", all the way to "broken bones".
