Is there no light to be found at the end of the rabbit hole that Scottish politics has descended into?

There have been so many nadirs since Nicola Sturgeon was anointed as first minister in November 2014: the farcical and secretive trade deal with China that the Chinese called the Scottish shambles; the Salmond scandal; and the fact that so much government business takes place behind closed doors, undocumented and hidden from view.

But then there was the sight of SNP MSPs applauding John Swinney's announcement in parliament that two lifeline ferries, already five years late and almost four times over budget, will be further delayed and cost taxpayers even more money. That suggests there is no light. Instead, it shows we have plunged down
