Winning St Patrick's Day parade float about Enoch Burke 'didn't happen overnight'

An Enoch Burke-themed float secured an overall victory in one St Patrick's Day parade novelty float competition on Friday.

The display on the back of a lorry, which featured a re-enactment of Burke's sustained protest outside Wilson's Hospital School, was organised by McCaul Kitchens, a kitchen fitting business in Co Cavan.

Gerard McCaul, who runs the business with his family, said a lot of preparation had gone into the design of the float, which included a set of gates complete with a customised version of the Church of Ireland boarding school's crest.
