The royal family's approval rating has dropped to its lowest level in 12 months after the publication of Prince Harry's book.

After a rise in popularity following Queen Elizabeth's death, favourability among the public for the monarchy slumped to 46 per cent according to Ipsos UK's poll, down from 54 per cent recorded in favour of the family in September, immediately after the state funeral.

Public sympathy for all leading members of the royal family declined after the publication of the Duke of Sussex's autobiography, Spare, the world's fastest selling non-fiction book, which sold 1.43 million copies on its first day of release according to Guinness World Records.

Spare, which was published in January, is the fastest-selling non-fiction book on record
