Finley Boden death: parents sentenced to life in jail for murder

The couple who murdered their baby son in a campaign of "unimaginable cruelty" days after he was returned to them have been jailed for life.

Shannon Marsden and Stephen Boden burnt and beat ten-month-old Finley in a "savage and brutal" campaign of violence, inflicting 130 injuries before he collapsed on Christmas Eve 2020. The once "smiley and chuckling" baby had fractures to his collarbones and thighs, a pelvis broken in two places by "kicking or stamping", and burns, including from a cigarette lighter.

Mrs Justice Amanda Tipples, sentencing them at Derby crown court, said that neither had "shown any remorse at all" and that they were "persuasive and accomplished liars".
