A MUCH-loved fashion store is set to make an incredible return to Scotland after it collapsed into administration two years ago.

M&Co pulled the shutters down for good in all of its 170 stores in April 2023 after the chain fell into administration.

But the Scottish brand is now set to return to the high street for the first time in a huge comeback.

The brand was acquired by AK Retail Holdings in May last year and launched a new M&Co website the following month.

Bosses then revealed plans to open up physical stores last year but there was no sign of a shop by the end of 2023.

But they have now revealed that the first M&Co store will open in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire, next week.

The new shop will open on Friday, May 3, in the same unit where a previous store was located before going into administration.

Sandra McPherson, head of retail for M&Co stores, said: "We are thrilled to welcome back our loyal customers in-store.

"This expansion symbolises our commitment to bringing stores back to the high street and connecting with customers.

"I look forward to personally welcoming customers back on the opening day."

Six new jobs were created with the store opening and it will offer an extensive range of clothes in UK sizes 8-20, including the M&Co petite range.

And the first 50 customers who attend the opening will be able to get their hands on a £5 voucher off a £25 spend as well as other exclusive discounts.

Retailers opening shops in 2024

Andrew Killingsworth, chief executive of M&Co, said: "The opening of our Newton Mearns store embodies our commitment to both the Scottish heritage of the brand and investment of our valued customers.

"We know how valued in-store shopping is, and we hope this store brings excitement for future store openings."

The Scottish fashion retailer announced that it had collapsed into administration two weeks before Christmas in 2022.

The firm, which was founded in 1961, shared the news on social media after a difficult period during the coronavirus pandemic.

All 170 stores then closed for good the following April.

Fellow retailer Yours Clothing bought the M&Co brand and intellectual property in May 2023.

And it was expected to make a surprise comeback in the following Autumn.

Yours Clothing told The Sun in June, it had plans to open 50 new M&Co shops over the next two years.

And now that the first re-opening is planned for May, the brand has said that more new stores will reappear in the coming weeks.
