Lancashire Fire and Rescue said an incident involving a vehicle fire had also affected a power line.

Earlier today, emergency services closed a road in Burnley due to the vehicle fire.

Police and the fire service were at the scene of the incident on Cornfield Grove. Drivers were being asked to find alternative routes and avoid the area if possible.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "At 12.09 six fire engines from Burnley, Nelson, Hyndburn, Colne, Leyland, and a water bowser attended a vehicle fire on Cornfield Grove, Burnley.

"The incident involved one vehicle and also affected an outbuilding. Firefighters used four hose reels, two jets, and two thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire."

An update at 1pm said crews currently remain in attendance. People were asked to keep their windows closed as smoke was blowing towards Padiham.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue said the incident has affected a power line and approximately 75 local properties may experience power outages.

Engineers were working to restore power.

Electricy North West said: "This power cut has been caused by an unexpected incident on the high voltage cable that provides electricity to your home or business.

"We didn't know before your electricity went off that this was going to happen but now we know, rest assured we will get your power back on safely and as quickly as possible."
