Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea future is hanging in the balance after Tuesday's 5-0 defeat by Arsenal, with European qualification believed to be a key factor in whether he will keep his job for next season.

An unbeaten run of eight Premier League games had offered reason for optimism at Stamford Bridge but the FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester City and Premier League humiliation at the hands of Arsenal in the space of four days have cast fresh doubt over whether Pochettino is the man for the long-term.

Chelsea are six points behind Manchester United in sixth place, which would secure European football. They have winnable games against West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth to come, but also have tougher matches against Aston Villa, Tottenham
