A cannabis farm has been discovered at a Birmingham property after police were alerted to a possible burglary at the address in a tip off my a member of the public. A passer-by spotted the property in Mere Road in Stockland Green, near to Brookvale Park, was open, believed it may have been broken into and alerted police who attended on Thursday (March 16) Erdington police officers attended the address and once inside found a large cannabis factory with some 65 plants. It is believed to be worth in the region of £65,000. The Erdington Police team Tweeted: "After being made aware by a member of the public of a possible burglary, Erdington Impact Team attend the address of the insecure property in Mere Road. And find a cannabis farm setup and have seized over 65 plants. A male has been taken into custody regarding the offence." A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Sandri Hasallaj, aged 36 of no fixed address, was charged with cultivation of cannabis and was due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court today (18 March)." Last week a cannabis growing operation was found near a secondary school. Officers raided a flat in Pixhall Walk in Castle Vale near to Greenwood Academy on Wednesday, March 8, and found 'deal ready drugs'. No arrests had been made. While last weekend a large £200k plus cannabis farm was uncovered at a property in a road off a popular high street. Officers from the Sutton Coldfield Neighbourhood Team attended an address in Gate Lane in Boldmere, just off the Boldmere Road high street area last Saturday (March 11) at lunchtime.
