Some Spurs insiders urging Levy to snub Pochettino and appoint four-trophy coach instead

Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a new permanent manager after parting company with Antonio Conte last week.

The Italian left Spurs by mutual consent in wake of his explosive post-Southampton press conference.

Plenty of managers have been linked with the Tottenham reins, including Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann.

The latter, deemed 'one of the best coaches in the world', recently became available.

Nagelsmann is no longer in charge at Bayern Munich, who have since brought in Thomas Tuchel.

The 35-year-old was said to have been sacked, but Alasdair Gold has reported he may be on gardening leave.

"They knew they would not need to pay compensation with the interest in him," he said of Bayern on football.london.

Likewise, Pochettino is a free agent, and obviously he has previous with Tottenham.

Dean Jones has now dropped an intriguing update on GiveMeSport.

He claimed that some Spurs insiders are trying to convince Daniel Levy to go for Nagelsmann instead of Pochettino.

"I don't know if Levy would prefer Nagelsmann over Pochettino because he probably doesn't know as much about him," he said.

"There will be other people at the club that think it's a better idea to go to Nagelsmann instead of Pochettino.

"At the moment, the job of the people around Levy is to convince him to stay open-minded and take a path away from Pochettino."

Nagelsmann probably a better shout than Pochettino

Out of all the candidates, Nagelsmann is arguably the best for Tottenham at this moment in time.

He's a young, talented and smart manager who likes a project and looks like he'd like to grow alongside a club.

Nagelsmann has already won four trophies during his career, including the Bundesliga title.

That was very much the case when Spurs snapped Mauricio Pochettino up from Southampton back in 2014.

At the time, he was a promising manager doing well in his first Premier League job at a modest club.

Although Pochettino is a top coach, the fact he has history with Spurs could hamper him further down the line.

Meanwhile, Nagelsmann's tenure would be judged as it goes on, instead of having comparisons with the past.
