Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway was chatting to Succession star Brian Cox on Friday when she revealed Derek Draper is "bedridden". It came as Kate told viewers how she has been spending quality time with her husband as he remains "very, very damaged" as he continues to recover from Covid-19.

Speaking to Logan Roy actor Brian, Kate explained she has been catching up on Succession with Derek as they re-watched previous series,

She told the actor: "My husband's bedridden and we've been watching it back to back."

"He still can't really move, still can't really speak, still fed through tubes, and so there's a long road ahead.

"But if you compare to last Christmas or the Christmas before, when he was still in hospital then you can see improvement."

Speaking on Journey To The Magic with Giovanna Fletcher, Kate shared: "It's just, you just want it to be quicker and faster, of course, like everybody would.

"But it's a challenging one - he spent most of last year in the hospital as well for various different things, so it was lovely to have him home.

"There are some days where he literally cannot do anything and it's like the computer is switched off.

"He cannot move, and he's in so much pain as we are manipulating him, trying to get him more mobile so that he doesn't regress."

The Good Morning Britain host explained Derek is "determined" to keep fighting and the family "cling on to the good days".

Kate is said to be planning a trip for Derek to undergo pioneering treatment to help his condition improve.

The couple have previously travelled to Mexico for clinical trials and Kate is reported to want to continue with this.

A source told Bella: "This really is Kate's desperate bid to try and save Derek's life and she is willing to try anything.

"She's been looking into a number of experimental medical options around the world and particularly in Mexico in an effort to save him from the devastating effects of Covid-19.

"Kate only wants the best for Derek. She wants to try it because she feels as though it's her last hope."

Kate has vowed never to "give up" on her husband despite "overwhelming" fatigue for caring for her partner of 18 years.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
