Two arrested and one in hospital following 'serious assault'

Two men have been arrested by police and one man is in hospital following a "serious assault" in Stoke Village, Plymouth last night. According to a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson officers were alerted to the incident just before 0.15am (May 28).

The spokesperson also confirmed the victim, a man in his 40s, had been taken to hospital after sustaining head injuries. He remains in Derriford Hospital in a "serious condition" at this time.

Two other men, both in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and remain in police custody. A cordon is in place along Devonport Road and Ford Hill.

The police spokesperson told PlymouthLive: "Serious assault in Plymouth. Two men are in police custody. Police were called just before 0.15am, Sunday, May 28.

"There are reports of a man having been seriously injured following an incident on Devonport Road, Plymouth. A man in his 40s sustained head injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

"His family have been informed. Police have arrested two men in their 20s on suspicion of GBH (grievous bodily harm). They both currently remain in police custody.

"There will be a police presence in the area and a cordon is in place, including a road closure on Ford Hill."
