Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber both just spoke out about their supposed feud

Selena Gomez has spoken out to defend Hailey Bieber amid death threats the model has been receiving, following weeks of internet speculation about the pair. And in response, Justin Bieber's wife, Hailey has now shared her own statement about their supposed feud.

Last month, Selena Gomez announced she was taking a break from social media after she and Hailey went viral when the internet assumed a number of their posts were about each other.

The pair have been in each other's orbit for well over a decade now, in part thanks to their connections to JB. While Selena and the singer dated way back in 2011, Hailey is now married to Justin, after they tied the knot in 2019.

But that hasn't stopped fans and onlookers alike from creating drama between the pair, most recently by speculating over whether Hailey and her friends had been shading Selena on TikTok, and vice versa.

Now, the pair have both taken to IG to settle the rumours. While Selena asked her Instagram followers to stop the hate, Hailey responded with a thank you of her own.

"Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity," Selena wrote. "This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate to bullying.

"I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop."

And Hailey's message reads: "I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I."

"The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this which is extremely harmful," she wrote. "While social media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this only create extreme division instead of bringing people together.

"Things can always be taken out of context or construed differently than they were intended. We all need to be more thoughtful about what we post and what we say, including myself.

"In the end, I believe love will always be bigger than hate and negativity, and there is always an opportunity to meet each other with more empathy and compassion."

This isn't the first time Selena has spoken out to defend Hailey. Back in 2019, while she didn't mention Hailey by name, she wrote on Instagram, "I do not stand for women tearing women down. I will never, ever be by that. So please be kind to everyone."

She added, "It doesn't matter what the situation is, if you're my fans don't be rude to anybody, please. Don't go off and say things that you just feel in the moment."

In April 2022, Hailey also asked people to stop leaving comments about Selena and Justin on her social media page, in a video captioned, "This is for you guys in my comments every single time I post."

She said to the camera, "Leave me alone, at this point... I'm minding my business, I don't do anything, I don't say anything. Leave me alone, please. Enough time has gone by where it's valid to leave me alone, I beg of you truly. That's my only request, leave me alone... be miserable somewhere else."

Hopefully, this can now all be put to bed.
