Motorcyclist dies in crash on A-road

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for information following the fatal collision this afternoon (May 25)

    A motorcyclist has died following a crash near Axbridge this afternoon (May 25). Avon and Somerset Police were called to reports of a single-vehicle collision on the A371 at around 1.40pm.

    The road was closed in both directions following the crash as investigation work was carried out. It reopened at around 7.35pm.

    The motorcyclist's next of kin have been informed. They are being supported by a specially-trained liaison officer.

    Investigating officers are now appealing for information on the crash. They are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has relevant dash cam footage.

    Avon and Somerset Police said: "We'd ask anyone with dashcam footage or who witnessed what happened to please call 101 and provide the call-handler with reference number 5223122142.

    "If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223122142, or complete our online appeals form."
