Bristol Bears were knocked out of the EPCR Challenge Cup by ASM Clermont Auvergne after Damian Penaud's double fired the French side to victory at Ashton Gate.

First-half tries from Semi Radradra and Harry Randall had edged the Bears in front with 38 minutes played after Tomas Lavanini and Penaud had struck for the visitors.

But George Moala touched down on the stroke of half-time to edge Clermont in front at the interval, before Penaud's second sealed the deal for the Top 14 side.

Clermont fly half Anthony Belleau kicked 13 points to AJ MacGinty's 16, but it was Penaud's double that proved to be the difference in BS3.
