Corrie fans predict 'more bad news' over unnoticed 'suspect' in Lauren case

Coronation Street fans have predicted 'more bad news' as they think a suspect has gone unnoticed in the Lauren Bolton case. Roy Cropper's solicitor, friends and family are still trying to prove his innocence after he was charged with the murder of the teen.

As viewers of the ITV soap know, the beloved cafe owner is currently behind bars after DS Lisa Swain decided he was her man and charged him with the murder of Lauren, who suddenly disappeared on February 23 following weeks of unusual behaviour linked to a 'mystery boyfriend'.

The missing person cases soon became a murder probe when blood was found in Lauren's flat and it was Roy who quickly became Swain's prime suspect after it emerged he was the last person to see her alive. He then misguidedly deep-cleaned Lauren's flat in a bid to help his friend Evelyn Plummer, who was sub-letting the precinct flat.

But Roy is now being pressured into confessing to a crime he didn't commit. During Monday night's (April 22) Corrie, viewers saw Roy's young chess-playing friend Sam Blakeman call at the café to collect Freddie the dog, having promised Nina Lucas he'd walk him before school.

As Sam headed out, unbeknown to him, one of the internet sleuths who have been targeting Roy watches from a table in the corner. A distraught Sam was soon seen returning to Roy's Rolls without Freddie and explained that he ran off and that he was sorry.

Nina was quick to head out to look for him while Evelyn Plummer reluctantly stayed back to mind the cafe. Nina got some help from Toyah Battersby but with no luck, they were worried about what the news could do to Roy.

But later, while in the cafe, Nina, Evelyn and Asha Alahan watched a video uploaded by one of the internet sleuths showing that they've taken Freddie hostage and to secure his safe return, Roy must confess to Lauren's murder.

During the same episode, solicitor Joel Deering was seen approaching Michael Bailey in the café and promised him that he'll never lie to his sister Dee-Dee again and hopes that one day they might get back together. Later in the solicitors, Joel thanked Dee-Dee for coming with him to meet his daughter and tried to kiss her before they later decided to give their relationship another go.

But it's fair to say Corrie fans still aren't sure about Joel and are convinced he's hiding more after his secret ex-wife and daughter came to light. @mikepriestley13 said: "I still think there is more bad news when it comes to Joel. I still don't trust him, even after the wife reveal. #Corrie."

@Arlene_HWycombe commented: "What is Joel up to don't trust him Dee Dee #Corrie." @itzzzo_ shared: "Joel says he won't let Dee Dee again, saying he has already said before. Until we find out that it was him who killed Lauren. #Corrie." @sofaneilas added: "Joel defo is the real murderer innit - i refuse to believe otherwise #corrie."
