Clarkson's Farm returns in season three trailer from Prime Video

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed the devastating toll a series of deaths on his famous farm have taken.

The former Top Gear presenter, 64, completely transformed his life and ditched city life for the Cotswolds, opening up his own farm. But while he's relished in the success from his new business, he's also dealt with devastating losses. The petrol head has opened up about how the death of a group of piglets affected him and his partner, Lisa Hogan.

In the latest series of Clarkson's Farm, Jeremy and Lisa were left heartbroken when a group of piglets tragically died under challenging circumstances after he had hoped to focus on pig farming rather than dairy. In upcoming scenes, the Doncaster-born star can be seen tending to his pigs after they welcomed their first bunch of tiny piglets.

But it becomes increasingly obvious that things aren't going too well for the little four-legged creatures. During one scene, which appears to have been filmed at night, Jeremy is heard saying: "One of them is as weak as hell."

"It was just a heartbreaking time," he said. Doncaster-born Clarkson added: "I've never, ever seen Lisa cry — not once, ever since that all started and was unfolding. It was terrible. It is weird, because you love them and you help birth them and you feed and nurture and care for them. I mean, you don't say, 'Let's buy some pigs and hope they die.'"

Clarkson also cried over the deaths but later revealed he had a particular soft spot for the animals, admitting his mother bought him toy pigs for his birthday and Christmas until he was in his twenties. "I thought it would be fun to have them, then they all just died in alarming numbers," he commented.

He went on to add: "It was absolutely horrific at the time, and we had another calamity with them just the other day, but by and large they're now going OK. We're getting more robust now, though — we're a bit stronger at dealing with it." Speaking recently, Jeremy told The Times: "A cow has one calf, whereas the last bout of births we had, one of our pigs had fourteen piglet

"That's a lot of money. I reckoned the pigs would provide something that's sadly lacking in farming today: a bit of genuine happiness. It was almost unbelievably sad, we had a catastrophically high level of deaths. The piglets were sadly accidentally crushed by their mothers while some died of natural causes in infancy."
