A family in West London are growing 'increasingly worried' after their relative, 72-year-old Shafi Mohammed, has been missing for seven days. Shafi was last seen at his home in Hounslow on the morning of Friday, March 10, by a housing warden making a routine check on elderly residents living in the accommodation.

According to Shafi's niece, Lina Khinda, 33, the warden gained a response from Shafi that morning. But he has since gone missing from his home on Pears Road in Hounslow. His family are now growing 'increasingly concerned' for his welfare because his disappearance is 'completely out of character'.

Lina told MyLondon: "We're all very worried about him, first because of his age, and secondly, because this is very out of character for him. He would normally tell the family or the housing warden if he was going away. He hasn't returned to his accommodation and his phone is off. We're very worried for his well being."

Shafi has been deemed as 'medium risk' by the Metropolitan Police as he has some health issues. According to his family, Shafi had a heart problem, which meant he has a tendency to fall and he suffers with severe asthma. The family are concerned he could have had a fall and become disorientated.

Shafi is described as a male, aged 72, of British Asian/Pakistani ethnicity. He has brown eyes, grey/black hair and is around 5ft 9in tall. Weighing around 60kg, his build is described as slim, and he has a grey moustache and stubble on his face.

His family are now appealing for the public's help in searching for him. In recent days, they have visited a number of hospitals and homeless shelters around the Hounslow area and have put up flyers in the local community. Shafi has no wife or children, and the family working to find him are his blood relatives.

They have set up a Facebook page to collect their efforts, and have tried to keep a hashtag going on social media - #Search4Shafi.

If you have any information on Shafi's whereabouts or have seen him, contact Hounslow Police station on 101 quoting case the case reference number: 2669 / 15032023. Alternatively, Shafi's family can be contacted on 07973 190158.
