A teenage boy has tragically died on the opening day of a music festival. Police confirmed a 16-year-old died at the In It Together festival in Old Park Farm, Neath Port Talbot, on Friday.

Officers were called to the site at "Wales' biggest festival " after the youngster suffered a medical episode. He was rushed to hospital but sadly could not be saved and died in an ambulance.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and the coroner has been informed, Wales Online reports.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said on Saturday: "Police officers were called to an incident at the In It Together festival at Margam after a 16-year-old boy from Port Talbot suffered a medical episode.

"Sadly the boy died while being taken to hospital via ambulance. Our sympathies are with his family at this time."

The Welsh Ambulance Service Trust did not attend the incident and ask the festival is being covered by a private ambulance service.

It is the second year of the family friendly festival which runs for a full weekend. The Kooks, Jake Bugg, and James Bay all performed on Friday.

While Anne-Marie is due to headline on Saturday, with James and UB40 topping the bill on Sunday.

The festival organisers have been contacted for comment.
