Aaron Hickey names another Scotland detractor as Spain star back at Brentford

A Scott McTominay double sealed a magnificent 2-0 win for Steve Clarke's men in Euro 2024 qualifying Group A on Tuesday but the losers have been far from gracious. Rodri kicked up a fuss by criticising the Hampden tactics and Joselu reckons that Las Rojas win the fixture nine times from 10. Brentford goalkeeper Raya was on the bench and Hickey -who started at right-back for Scotland - hasn't heard too many kind words from him.

Instead, he has continued upon the path of giving reasons for why they lost, rather than credit giiven towards those in dark blue. When asked about meeting with Spain man Raya in Brentford training, Hickey laughed on Sky Sports: "Nah, not really to be honest, he is just complaining and making up excuses! But no it was good.

"It was amazing to beat Spain in front of our home fans. To be honest it is weird, as a kid I have just thought about being a footballer and not anything else.

"Going from a kid supporting to being on the pitch is just a really good feeling. Everyone was there and it was nice to see them (family) after the game.

"We did a walk around the stadium with our fans, the gaffer then told us to stay calm and focus on the next games. It was a really good feeling, we all know what it means to the fans.

"We want to do well together, we have a lot of good players and every single one is really good. I am sure we will do good things."
