Catherine Tyldesley has told how she was forced to pull out of a stage performance due to what can be a debilitating condition. The former Coronation Street actress is currently touring the country in Bonnie & Clyde - The Musical.

Catherine is starring as Blanche Barrow in the show, currently alongside Alex James-Hatton as Clyde Barrow, Katie Tonkinson as Bonnie Parker and Sam Ferriday as Marvin 'Buck' Barrow.

Bonnie & Clyde - The Musical follows two small-town kids from the middle of nowhere as they become the biggest folk heroes in all of America while craving adventure - and each other.

The synopsis of the show continued: "Fearless, shameless, and alluring, this award-winning production has garnered a mass following, much like the infamous pair themselves, and now they are set to take your city by storm. Discover the electrifying story of love, adventure and crime that captured the attention of an entire nation."

Catherine, who is known for having playing Eva Price in Corrie, has been in the role of Blanche since February and will finish off her stint next month when she'll be replaced by former Hollyoaks star Daisy Wood-Davis, before returning for another short stint between September and October.

But on Tuesday evening (April 23) ahead of starting a fresh week of performances in Woking, Catherine took to social media to share how she was no longer able to perform with her understudy having to step in.

She explained in a post on her Instagram Story: "Due to a visually impaired migraine striking moments before curtain up I am gutted to not be performing tonight. But rest assured the incredible @oonagh111 will be absolutely brilliant as Blanche. Heartbroken to not be doing opening night here in Woking but it's never about watching me bump into things/people on stage. Off to rest! Enjoy the show folks."

The Manchester Evening News understands that Catherine will be back on stage this week as soon as she has recovered.

It comes after Catherine enjoyed an emotional reunion with her husband Tom Pitfield and their children as she spends time away from them to take part in the tour.

Alongside a sweet black and white photo of her daughter, Irish, cuddling into her chest as they reunited at the train station, the mum-of-two said: "Baby Girl met momma at the train station and it was EVERYTHING. My family Picked me up in Leeds because Manchester was another hour on the train and another hour apart… clinging on to every single second of these fleeting weekends.2

She added: "My heart is replenished for another week. Another shout out to my beautiful husband for being the most incredible daddy and holding the fort. And to my beautiful son Alfie who is the best big brother in the world. We've got this team."
