Two taken to hospital after air ambulance called to serious A494 crash

Two people were taken to hospital after a serious crash in Gwynedd. The A494 between Bala and the Llandderfel junction was shut for hours following the crash, which happened shortly before 7.25pm on Saturday.

People were urged to avoid the area while the incident was dealt with. A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said a technical rescue unit from Wrexham and two engines from Bala and Dolgellau, were sent.

A person was cut free from one of the vehicles. The fire fire service said two casualties were taken to hospital.

The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed it attended and there were multiple patients taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Two land ambulances and an air ambulance were at the scene.

The ambulance service said the collision involved a car and van. There were no further details on the condition of the casualties.

Following the crash, North Wales Police said on social media: "Road closure; due to a road traffic collision, the road is closed on the A494 at Llanfor, Bala, between Bala and the Llandderfel junction. Please avoid the area. Thank you."
