A murder investigation has been launched after a woman's body was found inside a five-star luxury hotel.

The body of a woman in her 50s was discovered at a hotel in Bagshot, Surrey. Officers were called to the five-star Pennyhill Park Hotel at 8.43am by South East Coast Ambulance Service following the discovery of the body on Sunday, April 14. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A 60-year-old man from Devon has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. It is believed that the victim and suspect were known to each other, Surrey Police said. An investigation, led by Surrey Police and Sussex Police's Major Crime Team, is underway to establish how the woman died.

The hotel was sealed off by Surrey Police as forensic science officers were drafted in to determine clue to the killing. Police have not yet released the results of a Home Office pathologist's post mortem examination. Neither the woman not the arrested man have yet been named.
