Popular BBC series axed after six series on screens as celeb host pays tribute

In a statement a spokesperson for the Beeb said: "We would like to thank Frankie Boyle and all those involved for six great series of New World Order, and we look forward to seeing what he does next on the BBC."

Scottish comedian Frankie immediately took to social media to break his silence following the axe.

The 50-year-old said: "Ah well, there's to be no more New World Order on the BBC.

"Not surprising in the current climate, I suppose. Just very grateful to have had six series of working with the funniest people in the business."

Fans have been left devastated by the news as one said: "Well this sucks. Will miss this awesome show."

While a second replied: "It will be missed. The end monologues were outstanding and the reactions they provoked from the other comics were an added joy."

"What sh***y news. Now we're totally done critiquing this government then, I see," commented a third.

While a fourth said: "Bloody useless BBC . this was best thing on TV."

The show aired on BBC Two and saw Frankie Boyle dissects the week's news with comedians, journalists and his audience.

The final episode of the series aired in December, while the entire final series is available to stream on iPlayer.

Last year Frankie sparked outrage when he made a 'low quality' joke about Holly Willoughby.

He performed a set at Latitude festival last weekend where he joked about 'killing and shooting people', including the This Morning host.
