Aldi has issued an urgent product recall amid an "active police investigation".

The budget supermarket titan has issued a warning to customers, urging them not to consume a recalled bakery item - its Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White - due to concerns of potential tampering.

The offending item was pulled from the shelves last month, over fears there of the "possible presence of metal" within the wraps which "may have been tampered with". The issue affects all Best Before dates up until April 29, 2024, of the Signature Flatbreads UK item, available in a packet size of 8x62g.

Customers who've purchased the item are being urged to return it to their local Aldi outlet. Warning posters dot Aldi shops that offer these wraps, cautioning shoppers against consuming them.

The supermarket has also revealed that the recall is tied to an "active police investigation".

Aldi confirmed its supplier is recalling Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White and no other Aldi products are affected.
