Hamilton Accies | Match Preview - Dundee Football Club - Official Website

Original source (on modern site) | Article images: [1]

March was a very stop-start month for the team with only three competitive fixtures, but Saturday marks the start of April and the first of six league fixtures in the month for The Dee. Hamilton Accies are the visitors on Saturday, unlike ourselves Hamilton were in action last weekend but in the final of the Scottish Challenge Cup, where they triumphed over Raith Rovers to claim the trophy. The Accies currently sit at the foot of the table but are only one point off ninth place and two points off eighth and with games in hand over the teams above them. After their cup win they will have the belief that they can remain in the Championship for next season. Before their cup win, Hamilton had only picked up one point from their last three league matches.

Dundee's last game was on the 21st of March with an impressive 3-1 victory at home to Ayr United. Since that victory, the players have been given time to rest, recharge, and spend time with family and friends before getting back to training this week. March saw us pick up seven points from a possible nine and spirits are high in the camp.

Saturday's meeting will be the fourth of the season, with Dundee so far undefeated in the fixture this season. The last meeting of the sides saw the points shared in a 1-1 draw at New Douglas Park at the start of February. In the earlier fixtures, the Dee took the points winning 1-0 in November and 2-0 in October.

Team News

Cammy Kerr remains injured and will miss the game and Lorent Tolaj has suffered an injury setback and will also miss Saturday. Barry Maguire and Kwame Thomas return from injury and are available for selection.

The Manager's thoughts

"We've got seven games left in 34 days, it's going to need a huge effort from everyone, staff, players, and supporters. All we can do is have a go and that starts on Saturday against Hamilton. That's all we can do, focus on one game at a time, I know it's a cliché but you will probably hear me say that a lot between now and the end of the season.

"We've had a good comeback from the defeat against Partick where we've taken seven points out of 9, the lads have really shown courage and bravery in terms of how we've played and we go into Saturday full of confidence from the display at home to Ayr where we were very strong physically and mentally.

"It shows you how tight and competitive the league is - congratulations to Hamilton on winning the Challenge Cup - we are aware of the threat that they pose but it is all about us and us trying to stop them from playing, and at the same time really showing what we are capable of.

"You've got to put the effort in, our attitude towards the Ayr game was brilliant, we have got quality in the squad we know that, but you've got to earn the right and I was really pleased with how we did that against Ayr and that's what we've got to reproduce on Saturday

"The supporters have a massive role to play, their encouragement and the noise they made at the Ayr game certainly helped. There will be times in the games, where we might be drawing or even losing and we need them to stick with us, get behind us, and get us over the line."

Zach Robinson

"The objective is clear, we've got to just take it game by game. We were buzzing to get that win against Ayr and we want to just keep winning and keep the momentum going.

"Every week the picture changes. You do look at the league table but you've just got to focus on what you've got to do.

"Hamilton will be coming to get a result to bring the game to us, so I expect a good match."
