When Neil Warnock came out of retirement to take the Huddersfield job in February you'd imagine it was days like today that he would have had in mind.

His charges were a goal down at half time against third-placed Middlesbrough but scored four goals in a truly staggering 20-minute spell to eventually win 4-2 and move level on points with 21st-placed Cardiff.

Another one of Warnock's many clubs were the beneficiaries of the turn around in West Yorkshire, as Sheffield United moved six points clear of Boro with a 1-0 win at Norwich.

In League One, Sheffield Wednesday went top but are winless in five after a 1-1 draw with Lincoln and third-placed Ipswich are hot on the heels of the top two after beating Derby 2-0 for a seventh-straight win.

League Two leaders Leyton Orient beat Carlisle 1-0 and edged closer to securing promotion.

We're back on Good Friday with a bumper day of EFL action, join us from 12:15 BST.

    Meanwhile at the bottom

A big day at the bottom of the Championship table and the battle for survival continues.

Just five points separate the bottom four after today with Cardiff's late south Wales derby defeat by Swansea keeping things interesting in the battle against the drop.

Huddersfield's stunning win against Middlesbrough and Wigan's win at QPR makes the end-of-season run-in look intriguing as ever.

How it stands at the top

    #bbcefl

Here's how things look at the top of the tree this evening.

As you can see, Sheffield United prospered after Middlesbrough's shock defeat by Huddersfield in combination with their own win against Norwich City.

The end of Coventry's unbeaten run sees their play-off ambitions take a blow while Millwall move above Blackburn courtesy of their drab draw with West Brom allied with Rovers' loss to Birmingham.

What do you think of that then? Tyrese Campbell strikes a pose after scoring Stoke's second in their dominant win at CoventryImage caption: What do you think of that then? Tyrese Campbell strikes a pose after scoring Stoke's second in their dominant win at Coventry
    • Struggling Huddersfield fight back from 1-0 down to eventually beat third-placed Middlesbrough 4-2 in a stunning game at the John Smith's Stadium.
    • Sheffield United extend their lead over Boro to six points with a 1-0 win at Norwich City.
    • Lowly Cardiff fought back from 2-0 down to level it to 2-2 with rivals Swansea only for Ben Cabango to pop up in injury-time and give the away side a fourth successive derby win for the first time in history.
    • Coventry City's nine-match unbeaten run is brought to a crashing end as they are thumped 4-0 at home by Stoke City.
    • Birmingham beat play-off chasing Blackburn 1-0 thanks to a goal from former Rovers loanee Reda Khadra.
    • Reading claim a 1-1 draw at Bristol City and bottom-side Wigan put their three-point deduction behind them to beat sinking QPR 1-0.

    Cardiff 2-3 Swansea

    PA MediaCopyright: PA Media

It's all over. Swansea have won at Cardiff for the third time in a row. History is made.

That's a fourth straight derby win for Russell Martin's men. It's never been done before.

Joel Piroe set the visitors on their way after three minutes and Liam Cullen made it 2-0 just after the half-hour but Jayden Philogene-Bidace and Sory Kaba looked to have ensured a gutsy point for the strugglers until Ben Cabango struck nine minutes into added time.

That means Cardiff are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

    One for the ages.

    And breathe.

    FULL-TIME

    Hull 0-0 Rotherham

Hull's biggest attendance in six years is treated to an exciting game but no goals.

Ozan Tufan hit the bar for the Tigers before the Millers had to see out the final 10 minutes a man light after Domingos Quina was sent off for a last-man foul.

How important could this point prove to be for struggling Rotherham?

    FULL-TIME

    Birmingham 1-0 Blackburn

Reda Khadra once again comes back to haunt his former club.

His second-half strike gives Birmingham three points against Blackburn, who slip to sixth after the defeat.

    FULL-TIME

    West Brom 0-0 Millwall

Not a showpiece in what had seemed set for a thriller in this battle for the Championship play-offs.

It ends goalless but Millwall move into fifth after Blackburn's defeat by Birmingham just down the road from The Hawthorns.

    goal

    GOAL: Cardiff 2-3 Swansea

    Ben Cabango (90 + 9 mins)

Wow. Ben Cabango has surely won it for Swansea deep into time added on after a couple of injuries in stoppage time.

Heartbreak for the hosts who had come from 2-0 down.

  13. Posted at 15:59 1 Apr 202315:59 1 Apr 2023

All over at the DW Stadium.

What a massive win that is for Wigan who keep their slim hopes of Championship survival alive courtesy of Max Power's first-half penalty.

    QPR's poor form continues.

    Hull 0-0 Rotherham

The home side are on the hunt for a late winner against the 10 men.

Alfie Jones sashes an effort over the bar after charging forward from defence.

That shot is probably why he does play further back down the pitch.

    Huddersfield 4-2 Middlesbrough

    WOW.

    I mean... WOW.

That Neil Warnock half-time teamtalk must have been like Michael Jordan's in Space Jam.

The struggling Terriers were a goal down at the break but roared back with four goals in 20 minutes at the start of the second half.

Boro pulled one back through top scorer Chuba Akpom but it was academic by then.

The Teessiders are now six points off second-placed Sheffield United and have played a game more. It looks like it'll be the play-offs for them.

Huddersfield, who have now won successive games, are level on points with 21st-placed Cardiff.

    FULL-TIME

    Coventry 0-4 Stoke

What an afternoon for Stoke City.

Jacob Brown and Tyrese Campbell scored before the break and Will Smallbone and Ki-Jana Hoever did likewise after the break as the Potters dented Coventry's play-off hopes and enhanced their own in the process.

A dominant display from Alex Neil's side.

    FULL-TIME

    Bristol City 1-1 Reading

It's all over. Andy King so nearly stole the points in the dying seconds, only finding the woodwork from close range.

Bristol City remain unbeaten at home this year, Reading remain winless on the road.

Tommy Conway fired the hosts ahead but Lucas Joao's leveller ensured the spoils were shared.

    FULL-TIME

    Norwich 0-1 Sheff Utd

Could this be the day that Blades fans look back on at the end of the season as the one that really mattered?

James McAtee's second-half goal sees them take all three points back up to South Yorkshire and extend their lead over Middlesbrough to six points, with a game in hand.

Paul Heckingbottom's men were good money for it against a Canaries side who are now without a win in four.

    Birmingham 1-0 Blackburn

The ball pinballs across the Birmingham box as Blackburn pile on the pressure to avoid travelling back up the M6 empty handed.

Bradley Dack and Ben Brereton Diaz both see contact with the ball but Blues just about deal with it.

    Huge.
