Sajid Javid hints PCR tests for double-vaccinated travellers will be scrapped

Compulsory PCR tests for vaccinated travellers will be scrapped in favour of cheaper lateral flow tests, the health secretary indicated today.

Sajid Javid said that changes would be made to rules governing international arrivals into the UK after claims that foreign travel risked becoming the "preserve of the rich".

A review is expected to drop the requirement for a PCR test within two days of arriving in the UK for those who have been double-jabbed.

Passengers currently have to pay about £75 on average for a PCR test when arriving from amber-listed countries such as France, Italy, Greece and Portugal, even when fully vaccinated. For a family of four that adds £300 to the cost of their holiday.
