Three people have been killed after a car hit a sheltered housing block and burst into flames in London on Tuesday morning.

Police and emergency crews were called to Great Western Road in Notting Hill at around 4.50am and found the vehicle on fire.

Witnesses told how a shirtless neighbour leapt from his bed and ran into the street in vain to free those trapped inside. But Scotland Yard said the victims were pronounced dead at the scene on the junction with Woodfield Road.
