Jermaine Cools' family have paid their respect to the "music loving" teenager who was stabbed in an "unprovoked" attack last week.

Jermaine's mother described her son as "always smiling" and spoke of the shock that the family was going through following his sudden death.

Jermaine Cools, 14, bled to death at a South London hospital after being stabbed repeatedly close to 7pm on Thursday November 18.

Jermaine's mum, Lorraine Dudek, told a MyLondon reporter: "For a 14-year-old he was like the head of our family. He was so grown up. He was always happy and always smiling, just your average 14-year-old.

"He loved music, that was his real passion, always playing music. He listened to all types of stuff from before he was born like Tupac. His favourite rap was stuff with meaning, emotional and meaningful rap."

Lorraine went on to describe how hours before Jermaine's death he had been sitting with his mum on his bed, laughing and smiling.

When Lorraine left for work at midday it was the last time she ever saw her son. Today the family noted the stabbing of another teenager, Rishmeet Singh, 16, who was stabbed last night, November 24, in Southall.

Lorraine said: "Jermaine was killed a week ago and a week later I see another boy lost his life in London. It's sad, these children are our future and they're dying for no reason, it's pointless."

Lorraine drew a line under speculations that her son was "part of a gang."

"People have been speculating that he was in a gang or something," she said, "That couldn't be further from the truth.
