Fire crews called to late night blaze at Leicester garage

Fire crews were called to a blaze at a commercial garage in Leicester earlier today.

A number of teams from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were sent to tackle the fire at the property in Beech Street, off Humberstone Road, at 12.20am.

A fire outside the building had died down when crews arrived, however they then found it had spread to the interior.

Seven appliances were sent out to tackle the blaze. After it was extinguished, crews worked with Leicestershire Police to determine the cause.

The fire service's incident report reads: "The fire was located on the ground floor behind roller shutter doors. Two breathing apparatus and two main jets were used.

"When the fire was extinguished and breathing apparatus withdrawn, the property was then ventilated using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

"Seven appliances were sent out to the scene, including two from Eastern, two from Central, one from Birstall, one from Wigston, and one from Kibworth.

"After liaising with police to determine the cause, it was found the fire was accidental and the incident has been closed."
