Number of Covid cases now above 1,000

THERE have now been more than 1,000 confirmed Covid cases in Shetland since the pandemic began in March last year

While the local infection rate appears to have slowed down - there were six new cases locally over the last 24 hours - the seven day rate per 100,000 population remains at 450.4 higher than the Scottish average.

In total 1,003 cases have been recorded in the NHS Shetland area, 100 more than in Orkney, and 380 fewer than in the Western Isles.
