Watch Christopher Morel Hit a Ninth-Inning, GAME-WINNING Homer off Edwin Diaz - Bleacher Nation

The Cubs made it seven full innings before recording their first hit of the night tonight in what was looking like their third consecutive brutal loss. But after they pushed a run across the board in the 8th, their luck changed. Dramatically.

In the 9th inning of a 1-1 ballgame, the Mets brought in their elite closer, Edwin Diaz, to keep the Cubs where they were. And although Diaz managed to retire two of the first three batters he faced, Christopher Morel launched the fifth pitch of his at-bat well over the left-field wall for the (eventual) game-winning home run.

At 402 feet and 108.9 MPH off the bat, that homer was LONG gone. And it was all the runs the Cubs would need to finish the game. You know Morel needed that one, as it had been tough-going for him lately at the plate. But the Cubs needed it just as badly. What a homer. What a win.
