The Kentucky Wildcats will not be landing Aidan Mahaney.

On Monday, the Saint Mary's transfer guard committed to the UConn Huskies.

Mahaney just completed an official visit to Kentucky.

BREAKING: Saint Mary's transfer Aidan Mahaney has committed to UConn, he told me and @DraftExpress. One of the best guards in the portal. Two-time first-team All-WCC selection averaged 13.9 PPG and shot 37.5% from 3 over two seasons. Visited UK, Creighton and UVA. pic.twitter.com/ifkHbDY1l7

A 6-foot-3 and 180-pound guard from Lafayette (CA), Mahaney chose the Huskies over offers from Kentucky, Michigan, and several others.

Originally a class of 2022 recruit from California, Mahaney was a 4-star prospect ranked 134th overall and 18th among shooting guards in his class, according to 247 Sports Composite.

As a freshman, Mahaney averaged 13.9 points on 42.8% shooting while hitting 40% of his 3s to go with 2.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

This past season as a sophomore, Mahaney averaged 13.9 points on 38.6% shooting while hitting 35.5% of his 3s. He also chipped in 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest and was a First-Team All-West Coast Conference selection for a second straight year.

Coming off an impressive season for the Gaels, Mahaney would have played a crucial role for the Cats on offense, but he'll now do so for the two-time defending national champions.

Thankfully, Kentucky has landed Otega Oweh and Lamont Butler to help fill out the backcourt, but it could still use a few more high-level transfers.

Mark Pope and Co. will now look to fill those spots with names like Dayton guard Koby Brea and/or BYU guard Jaxson Robinson.

On to the next one!
