CASA GRANDE, AZ (AZFamily) — A 2-year-old boy has died after a "tragic accident" while playing in a bounce house near Casa Grande over the weekend, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office says.

Around 5 p.m. on Saturday, PCSO deputies were called to an area near Bel Air Road and Rosemead Drive, just north of McCartney Road.

The sheriff's office says several children were playing in a bounce house there before a strong gust of wind blew it into the air and over to a neighboring lot.

The toddler was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

PCSO said another child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. We're told she has a broken arm.

Phoenix Firehouse 25 posted on Instagram saying the 2-year-old is the son of a Phoenix firefighter who is a valued member of their team.

They said the couple is expecting a child next month.

Phoenix Fire officials say he works with both Phoenix Firehouse 40 and 25.

The grandmother of the child who lives at the home where the incident happened told Arizona's Family the two families were very good friends and were all together for what was supposed to be a fun afternoon.

She added the bounce house flew backward.

"We would like to extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the grieving family," the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family.
