IM Ameya Audi wins podium finish in Portugal chess

PANJIM: Indian International Master, Audi Ameya, showcased a remarkable performance at the recently concluded Ponte de Lima Chess Festival Open Standard Chess 2024 in Portugal, held from April 9 to April 16.

Ameya's notable victories include triumphing against IM Mannion Stephen Richard (SCO) and securing draws against IM Piasetski Leon of Canada, WGM Priyanka Nutakki of India, and NM Goncalves Samuel Jesus Periera of Portugal.

With 4 wins and 3 draws, Ameya amassed 5.5 points out of a possible 9 rounds, securing a podium finish and claiming the 10th position based on merit.

The top spot was clinched by GM Ptetrov Nikita of Montenegro with 7.5 points, while Larkin Vladislav of Ukraine (6.5) and GM Roshka Yevgeniy (6) secured second and third places, respectively.
