Anne Hathaway, winner of the Oscar for 'Best Supporting Actress' for her work in 'Les Miserables', was recently interviewed in The New York Times.

The actress, who passed the 40-year barrier a few months ago, acknowledged that it is a subject that she "doesn't take so seriously", since "there are many other things that I identify as 'milestones'."

When she detailed what she truly considers milestones in her life, the actress surprised many by stating: "I don't normally talk about it, but I've been sober for more than five years. That seems like a milestone to me. Forty seems like a gift to me". Words that have surprised her followers, although it is not a topic that she has hidden over the years.

A few months ago, in an interview in Vanity Fair magazine, the New Yorker assured that "deep down I knew that alcohol was not for me". In addition, she added that: "I felt it was so extreme to have to say, 'But nothing? If you're allergic to something or have an anaphylactic reaction to something, you don't argue with it.' So I stopped arguing about it."

Anne Hathaway: Alcohol was fuel for me to wallow, and I don't like it

The American commented that each person has his or her relationship with drinking, although she knew that this decision was the right one: "My personal experience is that everything is better. For me, it was a fuel to wallow. And I don't like to wallow." An interesting reflection from a person who is now focused on her personal life.

One of the reasons for leaving alcohol aside is parenthood. The actress, together with her husband Adam Shulman, is the mother of two sons: Jonathan, eight, and Jack, four.

A few years ago she recalled an anecdote on the Ellen DeGeneres show related precisely to alcohol. One day, when she woke up with a hangover, she realized that her son was reaching an age where "he needs me all the time, even in the mornings."
