Barbra Streisand Asked Melissa McCarthy If She's on Ozempic

In a now-deleted Instagram post, McCarthy shared photos of herself attending the Center Theatre Group's annual gala in Los Angeles with Adam Shankman over the weekend. Her followers complimented her outfit and her seemingly slimmed-down figure, but Streisand took a different approach, commenting, "Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?" Streisand's comment was deleted, but not before people who saw it accused her of being disrespectful and inconsiderate. In calling out Streisand, many commenters pointed out that how McCarthy lost weight is no one's business. McCarthy has spoken about being told she wouldn't succeed in Hollywood because she wasn't thin and about trying various fad diets.

Although some commenters saw Streisand's comment as an intentional swipe at McCarthy, others pointed out that Babs probably just uses social media like a boomer. (And we all know people who think everything they post online is a DM.)

It turns out those people were correct. A few hours after Streisand's comment went viral, the singer issued a statement on her social media to explain what had happened.

As suspected, Babs didn't realize her comment would be seen by all. She handled the situation with grace, though, saying McCarthy looked "fantastic." This is a great example of how a real diva keeps it pushing: Even in an embarrassing moment, Babs found a way to plug her album of duets.

McCarthy put an end to the discussion on Tuesday with a video she posted to Instagram.

In the video, McCarthy held up a Streisand-themed magazine and said, "The takeaway: Barbra Streisand knows I exist. She reached out to me, and she thought I looked good! I win the day." Looks like there will be no rain on McCarthy's parade today.
