Don't let the old memories haunt you, as Google Photos is now offering users a way to block people's faces that appear on the app as it brings back the good old times to you. Old media stored in Google Photos are known for being subject to be brought up again as part of the app's features, but not all people there are a welcome reminder to a user.

In this way, users no longer have to go back and delete the images stored in the app to prevent them from resurfacing from Memories.

Ever seen a 'Memory' from Google Photos that made you jump or want to revisit your archives to delete it so you may never see it again? Do not worry. As Google got you on this, it is now offering users a way to block people and their faces from appearing in the Memories feature again.

It was first discovered by 9to5Google in its teardown of the app's version 6.80, claiming a new feature and its dedicated button, which gives users the option to "Hide face from memories."

This feature lets Google Photos determine the same likeness from the media collection and hide it whenever it creates a lookback from its storage. While Memories remind users of the stored media on the app, not all are welcome and good memories, with the feature helping avoid bringing them up again.

No Need to Delete Old Media to Keep It From Appearing Again

While the wisest thing to do when this happens is to delete the old media, it would be hard for users to sort through their gallery archives to manually choose and delete them. That being said, Google Photos is making this feature to avoid the need to delete but will keep their faces hidden so that these people will not appear again when the app makes Memories.

Google Photos and Its Features

Google began the purge towards the end of 2023 and early 2024, which deleted inactive Google accounts from users who had not logged in to Gmail within two years. This also affects the accounts linked to Google Photos, which means that the company will delete them from its servers despite paying for additional storage or having them synced from their devices.

Photos saw significant developments from Google over the years, and one of the biggest changes to arrive from last year's massive AI integration is a new feature called Magic Editor. Through Google Photos' Magic Editor, users may enjoy generative AI features in tweaking, editing, or improving their photos, first made available to Pixel 8 smartphones.

The many features of Google Photos make it worthwhile to store media, use the app to save cherished memories and edit them using generative AI technology.

However, not all Memories are good, and some remind users of a bitter past or a loved one who has already parted ways. Google Photos now lets users block themselves to avoid reopening wounds or reminding them.
