Concerns for E. coli contamination prompt nationwide ground beef recall

(Gray News) - The United States Department of Agriculture issued a recall Wednesday for more than 16,200 pounds of ground beef due to concerns for an E. coli contamination.

The raw meat products were produced by Cargill Beef in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, between April 26 and April 27, and shipped to Walmart stores nationwide.

According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service agency, the recalled items include:

There have not been any reports of reactions or illnesses from consumers who may have eaten the ground beef, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said.

Symptoms of an E. coli infection can include dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps.

Anybody with beef products listed under the recall are urged to throw the items away or return them to the place of purchase.
