The Kentucky Wildcats are among the most high-profile NCAA programs in the nation.

Their football team has been continually ranked, while the men's basketball team continues to be a household name.

What does that mean?

Well, for the immediate future and past, it has meant NIL (name, image, and likeness) considerations, which may help bring in players in the future. For the foreseeable future, it could mean revenue sharing for its players.

Per ESPN's Pete Thamel and Dan Murphy, the top college sports leaders are looking to revenue sharing for athletes.

NEWS: The leaders of college sports are involved in "deep discussions" to reach a legal settlement that would likely lay out the framework for sharing revenue with athletes in a future NCAA business model, sources told me and @DanMurphyESPN. Details: https://t.co/bEJosVhFMQ

Here's a key quote from the article.

"The NCAA and its power conferences are defendants in an antitrust class action lawsuit, House v. NCAA, which argues that the association is breaking federal law by placing any restrictions on how athletes make money from selling the rights to their name, image or likeness. The case is scheduled to go to court in January 2025. If the plaintiffs win at trial, the NCAA and its schools could be liable to pay more than $4 billion in damages, which has motivated many leaders across the industry to seek a settlement," they wrote.

It appears the House could have a case, especially if the Association is trying to settle. That could be huge for college sports, and it could change the landscape as we currently know it even more than NIL will continue to.

How they distribute the funds compared to professional leagues, which have a CBA in place to guide revenue sharing, will also be in question. There are a lot of finer details to hammer out, but it appears they are moving towards that solution.
